Kame and Keri

Kame and Keri
In the Creation Legend of the Bakairi Caribs the mystical twin heroes Kame and Keri populated the world with animals which they brought from the hollow trunk of a tree which was later connected with the Milky Way. They believed that the sun and moon were being aimlessly carried about by two birds until the twins seized them by cunning and put them on their present courses. Kame is a rendering of Kamu, the name given by the Arawak Indians to Zume.
